GRANTS TO TALENTED PLAYERS
Three of Royston’s corps of talented sport performers recently received grant aid to support the expenses involved in their intensive training programmes and competitive experiences.

Sebastian Jaunzens who is a member of both Marriotts Gymnastic and Cambridge Diving Clubs, whilst also attending Greneway School.
Sebastian in May 2006 won a bronze medal as a member of the East of England gymnastics team, whilst taking part in the national finals in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He puts in 14 hours training over 4 days each week. He is also climbing the ranks in high board diving, achieving 3rd place in the national competition for novice divers. As a result he has been invited to train with the Southern Zone Swimming squad. His regular journeys to Cambridge on 3 days each week, adds another 7 hours to his impressive commitment.

Louise Shortland having originally performed well in gymnastics, was encouraged to transfer to pole vaulting with the Stevenage and North Herts Athletic Club.
However, to find the right training conditions, Louise, makes regular twice a week visits to the Lea Valley Centre to work out on the pole vault beds.
In 2006 she was ranked 4th in the U.K. having been so placed in the Norwich Union UK AAA and World Junior Trials for under 20’s.

Nathan Wilson, who developed his talent originally at Greneway School and with Corvus Cornix Basketball Club, now attends the Barking Basketball Academy as a resident student and is a powerhouse centre for the East Herts and West Essex Leopards.
At Easter, Nathan was invited to play for England Under 18s in an international tournament in Cherbourg.
