Royston Hockey Club
Report to Royston and District Sports Council 10th September 2007
Pre-season training began in August and teams are now involved in a series of friendly fixtures before the 2007/2008 league season gets underway at the end of September. We will again field five men’s teams in the East Hockey League and three ladies teams in the Five Counties Hockey League; while a senior men’s team will compete in the H.A. Veterans Cup. It is also hoped that we will be able to arrange fixtures for junior sides as we continue to focus on developing our youth section.
Our priorities for the 2007/2008 will be to:
- Continue to improve our playing record as a club. Last season two of the men’s teams were promoted and there are hopes that the first team can follow suit this year. It will be a season of consolidation for the ladies section as young players gain experience of adult hockey.
- Complete the Club 1 st accreditation.
- Complete a coaching plan for the club to integrate junior and senior training.
- Continue to pursue the possibility of an artificial pitch in the town.
- Celebrate our 50 th anniversary as a club.
